Opening Weekend Success

Enjoyed a nice weekend of fishing with Jake and his father Craig! The remaining ice left the Willow Flowage and we caught a nice limit of Walleye, a few nice Smallmouth Bass and some feisty Northern Pike! Nice work guys!

1/8 ounce weedless Jack's Jigs tipped with a fathead minnow or mud minnow caught the bulk of our fish in 2 to 8 feet of water. Isolated submerged wood cover along banks was the key. Especially inside corners of points. We also cracked a few fish cranking flicker shads.

I also got out during the week and had some decent Smallmouth action on suspending jerkbaits! Water temps in the mid 40 to mid 50 degree range depending on location. We look forward to some fantastic pre spawn bass fishing coming up the next few weeks! Look for pods of hungry bass to start roaming shallow water in search of a meal. As the water warms their focus will shift to spawning.

Please note that this is a catch release season for bass until it opens in late June. We encourage the release of Bass through out the year as well as selective, limited harvest of all other species.

Good luck and tight lines!
