Hot summer bite!
Busy, hot 4th of July summer week! Fishing has been good. Recent trips have produced some nice mixed bags of Walleye, Smallmouth Bass, Largemouth Bass,Northern Pike, Perch, Bluegill and Crappie!
Surface water temps are running in the mid to upper 70's. I haven't encountered Mayfly hatches on the larger clearer lakes that I've been focusing on for the last couple weeks. Weather has been warm and fairly stable with occasional thunderstorms.
Lipless crankbaits such as Rattle Traps have been providing action on deep weed edges in 8 to 18 FOW. Crayfish and Firetiger patterns working well.
We are seeing increased activity on deeper hard bottom humps this last week. Jigging and rigging with crawlers and plastics producing well in 16 to 24 fow. Primarily Smallmouth and walleye on these areas that we are fishing.
The shallow weed and rock bite continues to be good during lowlight and dark periods. Topwaters, crank baits , and jig/plastic combos all working.
Lots of options now! Enjoy the summer!
Good fishing........ and remember. If in doubt....set the hook!!
